Cake Decorating
Last Christmas I saw a commercial for a Betty Crocker cake decoration kit. I decided one of my new years resolutions was to learn to decorate a cake for Addyson's 1st birthday. So when I got home to Oak Harbor I ordered the kit. It came with a thin instruction book that explained what the tips were called but not how to use them. So I decided to try it out (professional cake decorators beware this gets ugly) I baked Brandon a cake for Valentines day, from a box (Gasp) and then I got frosting out of a can (double gasp) colored it and tried out my new tips. With as you can guess it was a mess. All my stars looked like big glumps, I was bummed. I figured I was decorating challenged, and I had just wasted money on things I would never use again. That was until I saw a class being offered. I signed up and last night was my second class. The first class taught us how to make specific frosting to decorate with, how not to use a box cake, how to get it out of a pan, level it and all kinds of secrets to making a cake I had no clue about. Last night we learned how to do stars, shells, and writing. Here is my cake. Remember this is my first time decorating but I was happy it looked a lot better than my first cake.

Oh my Julie, what's happened to you??? You are becoming all domesticated!! Hope you love it as much as I do! We'll have to start trading recipes...and think now you can make better than sex cake, no box necessary!
very impressive!
